Cinematography practise and new information about Apple's privacy update.
Hi all, welcome to this week’s newsletter. I know I haven’t put on out in a while, but I have been working, and projects are being made (I’ll talk about that later). So without further ado, let's get on with it.
This week I put out a bit of cinematography practice to the YouTube channel. These videos are great for me because it means I can practise my craft, while also putting out a YouTube video. In the future, I might start putting out more cinematography based videos, and hopefully some short films at some point.
Recently I went to a week-long film course, where myself and two others (Who are now my good friends) got to make a film, with a team of actors and we made a short film. I will be uploading the film to YouTube soon, but I don’t have the download link yet, so I can’t post it. Don’t worry, you’ll be the first to know when the video goes live.
Apple’s email privacy update
Quick disclaimer - The update I’m talking about was actually announced in a separate apple event.
So I’m sure we all watched the huge Apple event on September 14th. If not, it was huge and many new products were announced. So what is he going to start complaining about now? Well, the main issue is for brands that use email marketing. Apple will now allow its users to use an email address that isn’t their actual email address, so they can unsubscribe to email newsletters when they want, without even needing to go to the website of the email they wish to unsubscribe from.
So all of this sounds great, right? Well, it is for the customer, and personally, I’m all for it. The issue lies with email marketers not being able to access key information and analytics, like the time the customer opens the email (If at all), how long they spend on the email, if they are engaged or not, if they click links, etc. This could cause huge issues to the $630 billion advertising industry through email marketing. I guess we’ll have to see what happens.
The clothing brand
The good news, we have a release date for the clothing brand. We’re aiming for the 20th of March 2022 (The first day of Spring), however, we could start sooner / later depending on the circumstances. Soon we’re ordering in samples and travelling to some cool locations to film + photograph the products for the website and social media pages. You’ll be the first to be updated about the brand so stay read for the email!
Did somebody say Podcast?
Okay, so it’s just an idea at the moment, but I and a friend might be starting a podcast. If you have any information/ideas that you want to tell us, please ping me an email.
